The Car Canopy
When choosing a car canopy, consider whether you need seasonal or year-long protection for your vehicle. Many of our car canopies are designed to protect a car all year long, while others are better for certain times of the year.
All structures basically come in two types: an all-weather carport and a seasonal storage shelter. Both, however, are made of a steel frame and a polyethylene canopy that has been treated to be water and UV resistant. Whether you’re looking to protect your vehicle from the rain in the summer or from snow in the winter, both of these options are solid storage solutions that are designed to protect your car, as well as other investments, from exposure to the elements.
Styles of Car Canopies
One very practical style is the Shelterlogic® Peak Style Garage, which, in addition to protecting cars, is large enough to shelter trailers, boats, and other materials needing storage. These car canopies are more shed-like and come with polyethylene walls and a zipper door in addition to a polyethylene roof.
To withstand snow and rain, this peaked roof structure is made with galvanized steel. The canopy covering the frame is waterproof and UV and mildew resistant. With a full polyethylene structure, seasonal vehicles like boats can be protected for several months, as the canopy will keep out the water and UV rays and mildew won’t build up beneath the car canopy, as air is still allowed to circulate.
The seasonal car canopies—also known as carports or car shelters—have a similar design to the all-season garage shelter. These open-air structures have a steel frame that is powder coated and a polyethylene roof with all of the same protective properties. As this structure is ideal for only certain times of the year, the canopy comes with a polyethylene roof only, but sides can be added for additional protection with carport canopy kits.
